Girls with Kicks Club
The club's aim is to empower our girls by giving them a chance to learn about issues that affect their lives, enabling them to expand their social networks and, in some cases, learning vocational and life skills. This is an empowerment programme that can help to shift gender norms, attitudes and practices by increasing girls’ self-confidence, encouraging them to express their views, and giving them access to role models who often also act as mentors. The club will engage with girls to influence girls’ lives so that they can pursue their rights within a supportive environment.
Goals
By giving girls time and space to develop their thoughts and views, and the opportunity to challenge norms about what girls can and can’t (or should and shouldn’t) do.
By giving girls a forum in which they can relax and socialise with other girls.
By broadening girls’ horizons and being role modelsBy increasing girls’ self-confidence so that they can advocate on their own behalf and collectively, for other girls in their community.
By developing girls’ leadership skills.
